Do you qualify for a rates rebate?
Every year many people get a rebate of up to $500.
Councils administer the rates rebate scheme on behalf of the Department of Internal Affairs.

If you are worried that applying for the Rates Rebate might affect your WINZ Accommodation Supplement you can phone the WINZ Superannuation freephone on 0800 552 002. They will check how it might affect you.

How to apply for the Rates Rebate
You can print and complete the following application form to apply. However, please wait until you get your next rates bill before you see your council about a rebate.

When applying for the rates rebate you will need:

Your rates notice
Information about what your income (before tax) was for the previous tax year
Information about what your partner/joint homeowner’s income is if he/she lives with you.
