New Zealand Relay (NZRelay) is New Zealand's telecommunication service which allows people who are Deaf, hearing impaired, deafblind, or speech impaired to make phone calls from a standard phone user. A standard phone user can use NZ Relay to make phone calls to Deaf, hearing impaired, deafblind, or speech impaired people by calling the NZ Relay Help Desk on 0800 4 715 715.
How does NZ Relay Work? You can connect to a Relay Assistant (RA) to complete calls to or from a hearing person. the RA acts as a bridge relaying the entire conversation between you and your caller.
NZ Relay offers six types of relay calling: TTY to Voice Voice to TTY Voice Carry - Over (VCO) Hearing Carry - Over (HCO) Speech to Speech (STS) Internet Relay (NZIR) (See Web link for more indepth explaination of these services) ALWAYS Available NZ Relay services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 365 days a year. Speech to Speech (STS) is restricted days and hours service. STS services are avaiable: Monday - Friday 7.30am - 9pm Saturday 9am to 5pm.
